VTR Chief Judge Darrell Floyd Recuperating
 |
Many of you have met or corresponded with VTR Chief Judge Darrell Floyd. About a week ago he had a small nodule in his left lung (discovered during a routine physical exam) surgically removed. On Sunday he and his wife Beverly received the good news that the doctors got everything and confirmed that there were no signs of anything in the lymph nodes that were removed. (It basically confirms that nothing has spread past the original nodule.) They believe now that he will not need chemo therapy or radiation so that is great news.
He's back home and Beverly says he's climbing the walls, so if you have a second, he'd probably enjoy hearing from a bunch of us. His email address is wedgeinfo@aol.com. |
What is the North American Triumph Challenge?
As many of you know, the Detroit Triumph Sportscar Club is hosting the 2008 North American Triumph Challenge. This week, the organizers received an email asking, "Am I to understand that this takes the place of the VTR Nationals in 2008?" The answer? Yes, the VTR National Convention is being called the North American Triumph Challenge, just as it was from 1980 to 1992.
Ypsilanti, Michigan will be invaded with Triumphs August 5th through the 8th of next year. The fun will get started Tuesday night with a performance by the Illinois Sports Owners Association's (ISOA's) own "Spinal Tappets." The featured models will be the TR250 and the 2000 Roadster. Noted automotive author B.S. Levy will give the keynote at the Awards Banquet. And, in what may end up being referred to as "The Ultimate Tech Session," there will be a 48-hour rebuild of a Triumph Spitfire! Online registration is underway at http://natc2008.com.

Two Vendor Programs Benefit VTR Members
In case you missed it, VTR members enjoy two programs offered by two superb suppliers. One will pay your member dues, the second will discount your purchases five percent!
First, spend at least $850 at The Roadster Factory this year, retroactive to January 1st, and have your VTR dues or next renewal paid for! Sales amount is determined on a calendar year basis from January 1st through December 31st. When your purchases reach $850, call the TRF sales line and speak to one of their salespeople. They'll take your information and communicate your renewal to the VTR Membership Secretary.
With the second program, members can choose any Heritage Motor Centre CD-Rom Technical Publication for their model of Triumph at no charge after spending $500 with the Little British Car Company, a Moss distributor. These CD's sell for £17.50 (US$33.89 at today's exchange rate) from the HMC Online Shop.
Alternatively, a member may choose to receive a $25 merchandise certificate for every $500 spent. This amounts to a five percent discount off LBCarCo's product line! The program will run from April 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008 and members must contact the Little British Car Company to receive their merchandise certificate or CD-Rom on reaching the $500 mark exclusive of sales tax or shipping costs. (A handful of products, such as magazine subscriptions, are ineligible.)
Write a Tech Article, Get a One Year Membership Extension
The VTR online Maintenance Handbook continues to be one of the net's most widely referred to set of reference articles for Triumph upkeep and repairs. We need to add more articles to the index and this is a great time of year to put out the call for new content since we've all worked over the summer to get our cars running perfectly. If you've tackled a repair and care to share your experience by writing an article for the VTR web site, we'll extend your membership by one year! If you have photos to accompany your article, that's even better! To qualify, you must already be a VTR member and your article must pass muster by the VTR vehicle consultant for your model Triumph. Time to get writing!
